What Do Children See?

We want New Editions prints to be fun to look at – and thus contain things that young children are drawn to: strong contrast, bright color, and simple forms. When children are born, their vision is limited to simple distinctions between light and dark tones. Soon they recognize bold color and eventually a wider range of hues as they simultaneously gain greater interest in the world around them.

We have chosen work for New Editions that presents a variety of visual experiences for children ranging from strong contrast to complex pattern, and we hope that each work will encourage children to see the world in creative ways.
